Mr. Cameron Crain is one of three Executive Producers for A Single Woman, a role that he serves within his capacity as Manging Artistic Director of Nevada Shakespeare Company (NSC). NSC created the stage version of A Single Woman in January of 2004 when it premiered in Fallon, Nevada. For the next three years, A Single Woman toured 200 performances to 100,000 patrons in nine states, including an Off-Broadway run in 2005. Mr. Crain was so struck by Jeannette Rankin’s lifelong dedication to political activism that he ran for Nevada State Senate in 2004 (while touring the play) and received 13,500 votes in a losing effort.

In 2006, inspired by the passions of director Kamala Lopez and writer/performer Jeanmarie Simpson, Mr. Crain launched a campaign to produce A Single Woman, the film. With a grassroots effort that includes contributions from 100 different individuals and foundations, he raised $115,000 to produce the first movie about Jeannette Rankin. He is also the co-creator, producer and director of Shakespeare In School, NSC’s award winning educational program that has served 110,000 Nevada and California students since 2001. Mr. Crain currently teaches theatre and public speaking at Sage Ridge School in Reno, northern Nevada’s only college prep school, and he is the recipient of a Nevada Arts Council Fellowship and two Sierra Arts Foundation Fellowships.
