Jeff Simpson is a Tucson based musician/activist-organizer/outdoor fitness guide/freelance angry liberal. When shooting began for A Single Woman at the end of 2006, he had just wrapped up his work as Field Director for the victorious campaign to defeat Arizona’s Prop. 107, helping Arizona become the first state in the U.S. to reject a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
“Jeanette Rankin’s life is one of the most remarkable and important stories in American history. That she made Montana, of all places, the first state to send a woman to congress, before the 19th amendment became law, reminds us that the fight for justice is ours to wage, any time, any place. It is unfathomable to me that I didn’t know anything about Jeanette Rankin before becoming involved in this project. It also speaks volumes about her; very few people in our history have been great enough to be not just excluded, but actually scrubbed from our history books.”
Jeff has been Jeanmarie’s brother and Kamala’s cousin for nearly 40 years.
