Richard Shelgren is an Executive Producer on the film A Single Woman.
As an executive and line producer, Sven brings a monumental cache of industry and living experience to bear on all his projects, with honesty, integrity, and the highest production values.
Beginning at the bottom in 1978, his first job was sweeping floors for Feature Systems in NY, a lighting and grip equipment company. Crossing over in 1979, he became staff coordinator for Jim Johnston, and worked his way up the ladder to executive producing for Jim Johnston, John Pytka, Ed Barnett and Andrzej Karpinski.
In 1985, he helped found Stiefel & Company in NYC, and was Executive Producer for Richard McCarthy, Steve Tobin, Peter Kagan, and Jon Francis. Starting in 1988, Sven worked exclusively with Jon Francis out of his San Francisco office as executive and line producer for six award-filled years.
In 1994, Sven opened his own production house, RCR Inc., launching with a prestigious Saturn shoot for Hal Riney/SF. That same year Sven was offered an executive and line producer job with Paul Dektor at Dektor Film which included bidding, sales, and production management for Paul Dektor, Mark Dektor, and Eugene Yelchin.
In recent years, Sven and RCR have produced a variety of specs and short films, including a 28-min. short My Husband’s Son directed by Eugene Yelchin (winner Best Actress Festival du Cinema de Paris, and a festival selection in Edinburgh, London Regus, Clemont, and others). He is also developing various projects for tv, film, internet, and interactive media, including pilots for “Lost Souls” www.lostsouls.tv, Picture This www.picturethiswithadamsilver.com, and others.
